Combining the unmistakable silhouette of the 1968 Telecaster Bass with modern Custom Shop refinements, this bass delivers classic aesthetics, outstanding balance, and incredible playability.
Finished in a beautifully aged Candy Apple Red Journeyman Relic lacquer over a roasted ash body, this instrument captures the look and feel of a well-loved vintage bass without excessive wear. At only 8.2 lbs, it's exceptionally lightweight and resonant, making it a joy for long sessions on stage or in the studio.
The roasted ash body is paired with a gorgeous quarter-sawn maple neck carved to Jason Smith's comfortable '60 P-Bass Oval "C" profile. A 9.5" radius, medium jumbo frets, and vintage-inspired appointments create an instrument that feels immediately familiar while offering effortless modern playability.
Tonally, this bass is incredibly versatile thanks to its unique pickup configuration. The hand-wound relic'd '62 Precision Bass neck pickup delivers warm, full-bodied vintage punch, while the hand-wound Vintage Jazz Bass bridge pickup adds articulation, definition, and growl. A clever push/pull volume control allows the pickups to operate in either traditional mode or bypass into a master tone circuit, giving this instrument an impressive range of usable sounds.
This example remains in Excellent overall condition with only the intentional Custom Shop Journeyman Relic wear. It has been well cared for and functions exactly as intended.
