A lightweight 1964 Gibson SG Junior with screaming tone, original hardware, and classic vintage vibe. At just 6.0 lbs, this wrap-tail single-pickup rocker is everything players love about Juniors: raw, resonant, and ready for the stage.
Few guitars embody the spirit of rock ’n’ roll quite like the Gibson SG Junior. Introduced as an affordable student model, these guitars have since earned legendary status for their stripped-down simplicity, roaring single pickup, and unmistakable mid-’60s Gibson feel.
This 1964 SG Junior has all the character you’d expect from a well-played vintage Gibson. The original cherry finish has worn in naturally over decades, giving it an authentic vibe that money can’t fake. At its heart is the original dog-ear P-90 pickup, delivering everything from biting, articulate cleans to raw, snarling overdrive when pushed — the very definition of Junior attitude.
Originally fitted with a tremolo, this example now features a solid wrap-tail bridge setup, offering improved stability and resonance. The guitar has been professionally refretted for improved playability while retaining its original tuners, pickup, and hardware. Importantly, there are no breaks or repairs at the headstock or neck joint — always a key concern with vintage SGs.
Weighing just 6.0 lbs, this Junior is exceptionally light and resonant, making it as comfortable on stage as it is inspiring in the studio. Professionally set up in-house here at NHP, it’s ready to plug in and play.
