Shop What We Use at NHP
At Nick’s Hand-Picked Guitars, we believe in carrying what we actually use. These are the same D’Addario strings we install on guitars in the shop and recommend to customers every day.
Used in the Shop
This isn’t a random accessory page. These are the same strings we use for setups, restrings, and day-to-day bench work at NHP.
Built Around Real Use
We’re starting with the products that make the most sense for our workflow and our customers — practical, dependable string sets we can confidently recommend.
Growing Intentionally
Our goal is to build out a strong essentials offering over time, but only with products that genuinely fit the way we work and the guitars we sell and service.
Strings we trust
Strings are the foundation of any good guitar shop. These are the D’Addario sets we use most often in the shop and now offer directly through NHP.
D’Addario NYXL 10–46
Our go-to electric set at NHP. Strong feel, excellent tuning stability, and one of the easiest electric string recommendations we make on a daily basis.
D’Addario NYXL 9–42
A lighter-feeling NYXL option for players who prefer easier bending and a more flexible response while still getting the durability and stability the NYXL line is known for.
D’Addario EJ16
Our default acoustic recommendation for most players. Balanced, dependable, and a great fit for everyday acoustic use across a wide range of guitars.
D’Addario EJ17
A stronger medium-gauge acoustic option for players who want a bit more tension, projection, and a fuller response from their setup.
D’Addario EXL165
A simple, reliable bass set that covers the majority of players and gives us a strong all-around option for bass setups and general use.
Why we chose these first
- They fit our actual bench workflow
- They cover the majority of players we work with
- They’re easy to recommend with confidence
- They tie directly into guitar sales and repair work
Used daily in our service work
We don’t just sell these strings — we install them every day. If you’ve had setup or repair work done by NHP, there’s a good chance you’ve already played them.
Setup + Strings
Our service workflow is built around products we trust. That means cleaner recommendations, more consistent results, and a better overall experience for the customer.
One system, not two
By using the same products in both our retail and service work, we’re able to recommend with confidence and keep the NHP experience more consistent from bench to checkout.
What’s coming next
Strings are our first step into retail essentials. As the shop grows, we plan to expand thoughtfully into more practical items that make sense for our customers and our service workflow.
Picks & Capos
Small, practical add-ons that pair naturally with the kinds of guitars and players we work with every day.
Straps & Tuners
Everyday accessories that make sense once we see how this first wave of retail sales performs.
Repair Parts
Through our service workflow, we’re also building out access to the parts and repair-side essentials that help us support setups, electronics work, and ongoing maintenance.
Our approach
Just like the guitars we bring in, we want our accessory offering to feel considered, useful, and true to the shop. That means starting with what we actually use and growing from there.
-
1
Use what works
We pay attention to what performs well on the bench and what customers actually come back for.
-
2
Keep it focused
We’re not trying to stock everything — just the products that make the most sense for our workflow and players.
-
3
Grow the right way
As retail and services continue to overlap, we’ll expand into more essentials and repair-related products over time.
Shop strings or book service
Whether you need a fresh set for your own guitar or want us to install them as part of a setup, these are the same strings we trust here at NHP.
We’re building out retail and service the same way we do everything else — carefully, intentionally, and around what actually works.
