Available now is this 2016 Gibson Custom Shop 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue in Aged Ice Tea Burst. This is a pre-Murphy Lab era heavy relic, done in-house by the Custom Shop during the period when they were really dialing in their aging work. It’s got all the visual character and feel of a well-played vintage piece without being overdone.

The R8 platform is known for its fuller ’58 neck carve — substantial in the hand but super comfortable once you settle in. Paired with a resonant mahogany body and maple top, this one has that classic Les Paul response: tight low end, strong mids, and smooth sustain that just hangs on.

This guitar is currently loaded with a set of Bare Knuckle pickups (not original), which is a really nice upgrade. They bring a bit more clarity and punch while still staying true to that PAF-style vibe — articulate, dynamic, and super responsive to your picking and volume knob.

The aging does a lot of the work here — it genuinely feels broken-in, not forced. No stiffness, no fight — just a really solid R8 that wants to be played.
